The Forgotten
Posted by razz05
We just watched The Forgotten and I’m totally surprised that it only got a C rating on this site, both by viewers and by critics. I have to say it wasn’t THE best movie I’ve seen, but it has to be one of the better ones I’ve seen. I had to cover my eyes a few times cuz I knew something scary was gonna happen (not scary… but people jumping out at you, etc.). It definitely made me think a little differently about the world and how things COULD work. Interesting to say the least.
Cape and College

I made this cape tonight for a friend of mine’s baby. I used purple fleece with A,B,C,1,2,3 embedded in it. It came out super cute… but isn’t as thick as I’d like it to be. I know… PICTURES right? Maybe tomorrow LOL. Oh yeah, I forgot to say… I signed myself up today for an online Psychology class at the local community college. HA, it ought to be interesting. I’m thinking about going back to school when S goes to Kindergarten (2 more years). I will need a few other pre-requisites anyways for any other majors (I have a CIS degree), so why not get them out of the way now? Man I’m gonna be a busy lady… as if I’m not already busy enough haha. One good thing, my work will reimburse me 60% of the tuition if I get a C or better in the class
WAHOO.

AI made L some jammies back in the spring. I have leftover fabric, so I bought a pattern ($1 hehe) to make matching jammies for her Bitty Baby doll. I’m half way thru, and she comes and asks me to make a matching pair for the Bitty Baby’s BEAR. The bear is MAYBE 3″ tall… there’s no way I can make something to match, of course it can’t hurt to try right? LOL I made S some Madagascar boxers last night and he won’t take them off (UH OH). I have probably 4-5 more fabrics (on sale for 75 cents) to make him some more boxers with, I guess I better get a move on HAHA.
I’ll try to get some pics when I’m done with them, cuz I know you’re all wondering where they are right? HA
Update: the doll outfit is finished. I’ll have to take a pic another day because I have to leave for work shortly. She’s stoked… and won’t put the doll down now LOL. She’s still adament that I make one for the bear too UGH.
Smile, it could make someone’s day!

I work today, and have 8 days off after that. YAY! We have a wedding to go to this weekend 3 hours away (north of Boston), and K’s sister will be staying w/ her 2 girls to watch the kids. It ought to be a good time.
Gramps is feeling way better. He might have a little more time in him than I was originally thinking. They decreased his blood pressure medicine, and he’s not feeling like he’s going to pass out. He has more energy, and he’s not laying on the couch all day. Last I checked his pressure, it was 168/102. I know it’s not good, but if he can actually MOVE instead of passing out, then I think he functions better with it higher. He has been in much better spirits since too. He said something funny yesterday that actually brought a tear to my eye. My dad was there too and was saying I shouldn’t make my kids hug or kiss anyone, and to let them do it on their own (I wasn’t making L… just told her she should but left the decision up to her). Gramps pipes in with “I don’t need a hug, just seeing everyone smile makes my day”. AWWW!
Poppy (my dad) has been in rough sorts lately. He’s waiting for the land in Ohio to sell (his Ex-Psycho talked him into it about 6-8 months ago) so he can “live”. He wants so badly to move into the apartment, but he’s thinking he won’t be able to afford it because of all the money Ex-Psycho keeps asking him for. Long story, that I can’t get into, but he kinda has to keep paying unfortunately.
SHAH!

Just a little tid bit. I was near bursting today at practice. 9 of the 10 kids showed up. I had a few different games for them to play… also some passing/trapping “drills” etc. Every damn time I tried to show the kids how to do something (kicking the ball with the right part of your foot, trapping it the right way, shooting to the corners of the goal, ETC ETC ETC), one boy kept saying to me “I already know how to do that” and “I’ve done this before, I don’t need you to show me”. He didn’t say it one or two times… he said it about 15 times. I kept reminding him (nicely) that not everyone has played before, and maybe some kids were never taught how to do it. I called a few of them by another kids name a few times, and only this same kid got frustrated with me. I said, “This is my first day on the job, and I probably won’t remember everyone’s names for a few weeks at least”. He had the gall to say “SHAH” to me… a 2nd grader… WTF?? LOL UGH it oughta be a great season HA… NOT!
I forgot to add… this is 1st and 2nd graders and is an INSTRUCTIONAL league.
Do NOT read if you’re squeemish…

Man, I’m exhausted today. I just worked 4 evenings in a row (I know it’s not even full time… but 4 days with what I have to deal with at work is very exhausting). I left last night with a 54 year old woman FILLING bed pans with bright red blood. They were pouring fluids and Blood back into her and it seems like she was getting rid of it just as quickly. Her blood pressure was 54/28 (normal is 120/80) and her heart rate was dipping into the low 40’s (normal is 60-100 or so). She was white as a ghost and kept saying she was going to pass out (gee I wonder why?). I was running around like a chicken w/ my head cut off trying to get her set up for the Operating Room, answering the phones, taking off STAT orders from the doctors, bringing blood to the lab (to check her counts… did I mention that the ICU is on the 4th floor and the lab is on the Ground floor? LOL), and everything else all the other nurses needed me to do for their patients.
For those of you who’ve never heard of it… this lady had a GI Bleed, and let me tell you, if you’ve ever smelled it before… you can smell it from a mile away. The whole place stunk of “GI Bleeding” and it was absolutely disgusting. Needless to say, when I got home, I took a shower and crashed… hard.
I have today off, well not really. I have to coach L’s soccer team from 4-5 today (our first one), then I have to feed everyone, and go to Volleyball for 6-8:30 or so. Come home, give everyone a bath (because it’s sand volleyball… but more like DIRT that loves to get caked into your skin and clothes), and crash again. I work again tomorrow, but have 4 days OFF after that… YAY!
Coach Lindsay

My week has been BUSY BUSY. I’ve had 2 photo shoots and made a few collages for them. I’ve been helping my dad and grampa alot… and I’ve taken up coaching L’s soccer team this fall. It ought to be interesting, considering I have hardly any time for myself now, it’s gonna be worse.
I have 9 1st and 2nd graders on my team, and we play 1-2 times per week plus a practice day if I see fit. Our first practice is Sunday morning, and I’m trying to come up with ideas to make it “fun” for them. I played soccer for 16 years, and I thought it was about time to volunteer some of my time. Plus, I was tired of L going to practice/games and not learning a thing. Not even the basics. Clearly the coaches were just parents of other players, and were only doing it because noone else would. Her practices consisted of them scrimmaging each other… and the coach not even stopping to make them throw the ball in… it’s just BASICS of the game JEESH.
Ending on a crazy note… I just found out that someone I’ve known for quite some time is getting divorced and is a lesbian. Most of you online cronies know this person, and no I won’t tell. I’m sure she will in due time. It was a complete shock to me, but she’s happy, so I’m happy for her.
Updates…

Gramps went to the Oncologist yesterday. His PSA is back to normal! He asked my mom if he was taking anything over-the-counter… anything at all. My mom told him not that she knows of. He said this is a miracle, so if he IS taking something OTC, he needs to know about it. Interesting! He’s acting much better, and moving around a ton better.
Dad moved into the apt. It’s not finished (needs carpeting downstairs and paint upstairs but he’s not using those rooms upstairs), but it’s livable.
I’m bringing Aspen to the vet today for a re-check to make sure the parasites are gone.
The fleas: not gone YET! We’ve bombed the house 4 times now. Last we knew they were in the basement but gone from the upstairs. We bombed again on Friday evening, and I’m hoping this is the last time.
Oh yeah, and it was in the 30’s here last night, the night before and will be tonight. I actually had to turn my pellet stove on today to take the chill off (it was 62 degrees in my house). This is sad… it’s SEPTEMBER PEOPLE!

FLEAS!
AAAAGH, we’ve been battling fleas that the cat dragged in for a few weeks now. I have tried everything: collars, shampoo, drops, pills, washing ALL of the linen and laundry in my house, borax on the carpets and vacuuming daily… nothing is working. I have no other option but to bomb the house (tomorrow). I can’t stand it anymore. My kids, my husband and my feet and ankles are COVERED in bites
. I went to the vet today and got a pill to give to the cat. Once I finally got it down, within an hour all of the live fleas were dead. That’s amazing to me. I also got something to put on her neck, monthly. Unfortunately I just put the crappy Hartz brand on her neck about 6-7 days ago, so the vet is recommending that I wait another week to put this new stuff on her GRRRR. I can’t wait that long. When it rains it pours.
Mom to the rescue.

So, my dad will be moving into the apartment. We were there yesterday painting, painting and more painting. There were 3 of us there (my dad, sis and I), and we got 3 big rooms and 2 little rooms (ceiling AND walls) done in a matter of about 5 hours… not too shabby. The whole downstairs (except for the walls in the kitchen) is done. We need to fix up the bathroom and paint it, and either re-carpet or put some sort of flooring down in the downstairs and it should be good for him to move in.
Of course, he has absolutely NO money right now (divorce UGH), so my mom (the actual owner of the house) is being awesome and letting him move in rent-free for 6 months. All he has to do is finish painting the upstairs (3 bedrooms), mow the lawn, check on my grampa daily, and fix some little things (ie: holes in the walls, leaks, etc) while he’s there. THANKS MOM! And to think that about 6/7 years ago my parents could never get along again? I have to say, they get along now better than they ever have (that I can remember).
My dad seemed kinda stunned that my sis and I were there helping all afternoon. He said it was his job to do the repairs/painting. We just told him that regardless of whether he had to pay rent or not, that we’d be there helping anyways. So, he gave me his last $20 (til payday on Thursday) for the pizza that we ordered and I put it on his seat in his truck before I left HEHE. I told him a few times lately that the little bit of money I’ve “loaned” him is just a pre-payment for the help I might need in the future. You gotta give a little and take a little and at the moment I don’t need anything and he needs lots. It’ll all come around in the end. MWAH, love ya Dad!
